In order to complete the Acropolis Museum project we needed a huge set of sounds that would be used as ambience when the video of our painting was playing.I casually mentioned our Muse project to one of the Sound Design Assistants on campus, Louis Greipe. Louis led me to Greg Smith, who had recorded all the sounds for the Acropolis Museum. Unfortunately, we didn't realize that the collection Mr. Smith had made was a long time ago. We couldn't even find the original tapes. But, even though the items we've used from his collection are serving us well, it's unfortunate that Mr. Smith doesn't want to share his work. We need a fridge magnet, or a letter, or some sort of recognition. Thankfully, UNH's film library has a collection of Sound Effects CDs, so we'll use those to hear the original recordings he made. Please send me links to your mixes, even if they're not 100% perfect!
We also had recently been granted access to the sound effects archive at UC Davis. They were very kind in letting us use their library. We've already put a few great things together! If a sound was only used in a few minutes of the film, we're going to use the original recordings. But when we have a longer segment, we'd love to know more about the sounds, and unzip the file to listen to how it was made (Greg Smith). d2c66b5586
